Traffic Police officers told to be professional

Northern Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Mpundu has advised officers under the Zambia Police Traffic section to be professional as they execute their duties.

M Mpundu says the officers are there to maintain sanity on the roads and not to intimidate motorists.

Mr Mpundu also said that it is unfortunate some motorists and traffic officers have become enemies.

He has since called on officers to be engaging motorists in a professional manner, e urged motorist to cooperate with traffic officers.

Mr Mpundu said that road users must ensure their vehicles are road worthy before going on the road to avoid getting in conflict with the officers on duty.

He was responding to a video which has gone viral on social media showing a traffic officer manhandling a taxi driver in Kasama district.

And Northern Province Police Commanding Officer Edwin Chisi said motorists should always be engaging his office if they are offended.

He said traffic officers are there to protect all the road users and should not be treated as enemies.
