Total Zambia has spent K12 million in upgrading the Chingola fuel station located along Kitwe Road.
Speaking with The Independent Observer, Total Zambia Head of Retail and Digital Ernest Mfula said most of the Total fuel stations were old and dilapidated.
He said due to age, most of them didn’t have quick service restaurant (QSR) and only had mini-marts.
Mr Mfua said the upgraded fuel station has been equipped with modern bigger cold-room and quick service restaurant (QSR) plus modern ablution block.
He said the revamped fuel station will also have kerosene dispenser, the situation which will simplify the lives of marketeers dealing in cobra.
This Reporter was told that Debonairs are the most probable clients likely to take the QSR.
On July 10, 2017, a Chingola resident John Mupeta complained that the district had no fuel station that was selling kerosene popularly known as paraffin.
Mr Mupeta fondly called as ‘Big Joe’ said Chingola residents involved in making floor polish had to travel to Kitwe to purchase the commodity.
He said the lack of the commodity was an inconvenience to residents that survive on making and selling homemade floor polish.
Mr Mupeta said that the district has about nine filling stations, yet none of them is selling paraffin.
And this news has cheered him. He thanked Total Zambia for being the only station graded under “A” that would selling the commodity.
