Thumbs up Lubambe Copper Mine-PF Youths

By Daniel Sichinga
Patriotic Front (PF) youths on the Copperbelt have expressed gratitude to Lubambe Copper Mine (LCM) for empowering the youths in Chingola and Chililabombwe.

Reacting to LCM’s move to empower youths in the two districts with an easy to do business venture, Copperbelt PF Province Youth Chairperson Don Mungulube saluted the mine.

Mr Mungulube said a journey of a thousand miles starts with a step which Lubambe Mine has taken in joining government to fight unemployment in the country.

“Like this we can say a better foundation for youths is guarantees thereby creating a better future for an industrious men and women.  We also have youth groups under cooperatives in  Kitwe, Mpongwe, Luanshya, Kalulushi, Msaiti, Ndola, Lufwanyama and our cry is to other noble companies like Lubambe Mine to help in assimilating these youths in their programs,” he said.

LCM has signed a one-year contract with Lagom Multi-purpose cooperative for the procurement of its scrap metal.

The contract comes with a K100, 000 credit facility in which Lagom will get the scrap metal on credit and go and resale thereafter payback to the mine.

Mr Mungulube also called upon other companies in the province to emulate what LCM has done.

“We ask Dangote, Zesco, Mopani Copper Mines, Konkola Copper Mines, Copperbelt Energy Corporation to open such opportunities to other youths as laymen and later build up their own capital for future employment sustainability,” he said.

Mr Mungulube implored Lagom Multi-purpose Cooperative to be exemplary and not to disappoint the LCM management.

“Disappointing LCM, would make it difficult for other youths to be trusted with such empowerment opportunities” he said.
