Threepeople have died after they were involved in a road traffic accident along Mufulira Sabina road.
Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said the accident happened on 22 February, 2023 at around 21:10 hours after the second rail crossing at Kafironda area in Mufulira.
He said that the first Volkswagen passat reg# AFB 2621zm which was extensively damaged and was being driven by Paul Sakaumba, aged 28 of unknown abode who sustained multiple head injuries, suspected internal injuries and fractured both legs and was certified dead upon arrival at Ronald Ross Hospital.
Mr Mweemba said the other two Males on board are unknown and they sustained head injuries, suspected internal injuries and fractured both legs who were pronounced dead upon arrival at Ronald Ross Hospital as well.
“ Also on board were two other passengers namely Kizito Mutale ,aged 49 of Chimwemwe and Tom Mutale age 25 who complained of painful chest, painful left leg and painful right hand. They have since been admitted to Kamuchanga General Hospital mufulira. Next of kin informed. M/Tom Tembo,aged 25 of H/se # C40/1 Suburbs kamuchanga mufulira.
Mr Mweemba said the driver of the second vehicle was not found on the scene of the accident and his Volvo Fm 12 truck had a damaged rear part which had a break down.
He said the third driver was also not found on scene and his volve truck and trailer was extensively damaged on the front part.
Mr Mweemba also said that both drivers are unknown.
“ The accident happened when the first wagon was being driven from West to Eastern direction on the stated road and in the process went and hit into the second m/v being a Volvo truck which had a break down and eventually the same Volkswagon went and hit into the third volvo truck head on which was being driven in the opposite direction,” he said.
