Nchanga Member of Parliament Derricky Chilundika has given out the last quarters of CDF empowerment grants to over 100 barbershops and salons in his constituency.

Mr Chilundika has empowered over 200 cooperatives this year under CDF empowerment from first quarter to the last quarter.

The MP has given out grants worth K900, 000 for the third and fourth quarters of grant allocations in his constituency.

He said most of the barbershops and salons were empowered with shaving machines and towers.

Speaking when he handed over the grants at Kabundi Secondary school, Mr Chilundika gave third and fourth quarters of the CDF grants to cooperatives and clubs that applied.

Mr Chilundika said the grants are for those clubs and cooperatives that were left out in the first and second quarters.

He said government wants to empower people through skills and training.

Mr Chilundika appealed to residents to pay a blind eye to those claiming that CDF is a scum because evidence says otherwise.

He said that every Zambian is entitled to partake of the CDF as long as they applied.

Mr Chilundika who is also Luapula Minister said the money should be used to start businesses to sustain the recipient’s lives.

“Nchanga General Hospital ward five is getting renovated under the CDF funds, Kabundi Clinic theatre is being constructed, and Nchanga General Hospital Mortuary will be given new refrigerators to supplement the already existing ones,” he said.

He said it government’s hope to see that all public health facilities are alternative water supplies.

Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe has commended Nchanga MP ensuring that CDF grants are distributed accordingly.

Mr Kang’ombe said it is delightful to see residents benefit from the grant that fulfils some of the promises made.

And Nchanga Constituency Chairperson Reuben Sitali said that the grants were given to deserving people irrespective of political affiliation.

Mr Sitali said this will also help develop the Constituency because it is working for every Zambian.
