Medical equipment worth K1.6 million has been stolen from the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) warehouse in Lusaka.
Speaking in statement, the Agency’s Board Chairperson Anna Chifungula says the warehouse was broken into and the thieves made away with various dental equipment and assorted CT scan accessories worth millions of Kwacha.
Dr Chifungula said that board is shocked that unscrupulous individuals would sink so low as to steal medical equipment meant for the sick in hospitals across the nation.
Dr Chifungula said the matter has since been reported to the police.
She said that this is not the first break-in that has occurred at the same warehouse as another happened.
“ZAMMSA will leave no stone unturned in finding the people behind the theft. In March last year the same happened were equipment valued over one million kwacha was stolen,” she said
