‘The Hour has Come’ again-MMD

By NCHIMUNYA MIYOBA
MMD Copperbelt Provincial Youth chairperson James Phiri says the dismissal of Minister of works and Supply does not affect the party on the Copperbelt in any way.

Mr Phiri said the party on the Copperbelt will now concentrate on mobilising the party following the dismissal of the Minister of works and Supply Felix Mutati.

Speaking in an interview in Kitwe today, Mr Phiri said the party will go flat out to defend the party and the interest of the Zambian people.

He said it is unfortunate that party was unable to fully engage in meaningful debates because of the ties it had with the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party.

“The ‘Hour Has Come’ for MMD on the Copperbelt to start working as an opposition party for the benefit of the Zambian people.

“The dismissal will benefit the party greatly as it was difficult for Mr Mutati to work for government and at the same time to sort out party matters. The dismissal will give Mr Mutati enough time to reorganise the party,” he said.

Mr Phiri said the party is currently mobilising and recruiting new members in readiness for 2021 general elections.

He said this time around the party is going to be vibrate again and we will continue to depend the interest of the people.

“We have to get back and engage in talks to see how we can mobilize the party in readiness for the general elections in 2021,’’ he said.
