Temwani Women Club is progressive-Councillor

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Kabundi ward Councillor Brian Banda says setting up of chicken run by Temwani Women Club is an indication that the women want to empower themselves.

Temwani Women are rearing village chickens and are making small table mates and doormats for sale.

Speaking when he visited the club, Mr Banda said that his desired goal is to see the club upgrading its members to become self-reliant where they can leave the club to leave space for new members.

He has since pledged support to the group even after they get the certificate to give him a venture he would support.

Mr Banda is using his own money to support the women and youths in his ward and Temwani women’s Club is among the four women club he is supporting together with two youth clubs.

He later gave the women K1000 for transport to Lusaka for them to collect the certificate.

He encouraged the women to work as a team for them to be successful.

The women said the process of acquiring the certificate which the Councillor begun with them was over just waiting to collect the certificate from Lusaka.

The Club Chairperson Loveness Mwaba said that the club was grateful for the support they are receiving from their Councillor.

Ms Mwaba said that the help they are receiving they have never seen before with previous councillors.

Mr Banda was one of the customers who purchased a mate which was going at K300 as way of supporting them.
