Temporal works to be done on Kasumbalesa Road

Chililabombwe Municipal Council has embarked on a temporarily rehabilitation works on the T3 Road commonly know us the International Road that leads to Kasumbalesa border.

The Local Authority using local resources is currently undertaking road rehabilitation works to ease the flow of traffic to and from the border.

The Office of the Mayor and the District Commissioners office, also implored other measures to help lessen dilapidation of the road and ease traffic flow by calling on KCM, Lubambes and Avic International to assist the Council with waste rock and equipment to temporarily work on the road.

And speaking in an interview at Civic Centre Chililabombwe Mayor Lucky Sichone said he was grateful for the help rendered by KCM for providing the Council with waste rock to be placed not only on the international road but on other township roads like Kamenza which is currently in a bad state due to ongoing rains.

Mr Sichone said Lubambes has provided a Tipper Truck and a Compactor of which the Council will be refueling to enable the continuation of work on T3 Road.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all the various stakeholders that have come on board to join hands with the Council to resolve the issue of poor road network system in Kamenza and the international road,” he said.

And a motorist who frequents the Kasumbalesa border has thanked government for the temporary road works.

The motorist said the road has proved to be a challenge when ferrying passengers or any goods to and from the border and this initiative of placing waste rock as the community waits for the final road works is a welcome move as it will ease their movements.

Government contracted Avic International to work on the international road permanently, but the company is currently in recess and will resume work after the rainy season.
