Technology critical in female entrepreneurship

Chingola Member of Parliament Chipoka Mulenga’s wife Likonge Mulenga says that female entrepreneurship can be promoted through the use of technology in the country.

Eng Mulenga says technology has made it easier for individuals to start and grow businesses hence women entrepreneurs can succeed and drive the economy through technology.

Speaking during women’s day celebrations in Chingola Eng Mulenga who is also an Energy expert and rural electrification Authority Board Chairperson said data is another critical tool that can be used to advance gender equality.

“,The access to education can also help identify areas where gender inequality exists and develop targeted solutions to address these disparities,” she said.

She said the potential of digital innovation and technology to promote gender equality is immense.

“However, we must ensure that these tools are used in a way that is inclusive and equitable for all by working together, we can harness the power of technology to create a more equal and just world.

“We can also use technology to address gender-based violence, which remains a huge problem around the world,” she said.

Eng Mulenga said innovation and technology have the power to drive positive change and help break down these barriers.

She said one of the most pressing issues is the digital gender gap, women and girls are less likely to have access to technology and digital literacy which limits their opportunities for education, employment, and social connection.

“However, we can work to close this gap by investing in digital infrastructure and creating programs that promote digital literacy among women,” she said

And Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi who graced the occasion said that women are important in society hence they should be encouraged to to stand up on their own.

Mr Chimupi expressed gratitude toward all political parties who were represented as this was a national event for everyone despite of the political affiliation.

He said that women should rise up and perform as men in all field of society because they have the potential.

“Government want to see a free society were women would stand up on their own without depending on men,”he said.

He said Government has made head ways for women to be supported hence various positions in government are been given to women.

The DC said that women can rise to higher position and are stronger than men.

“The government has brought in a lot of empowerment for women to thrive in society all women should partake of this program so that they are not left behind.

Speaking at the same function, Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe said that today’s celebrations is an act of courage for the women and their noble work.

Mr Kang’ombe encouraged women to apply for women empowerment to better their lives.

He urged women to be bold and courageous and work together as they are important in society because without them they can never be productivity in the Nation.
