Taxi Driver attacked, Two children killed in Ndola

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Two suspected criminals hijacked a taxi, attacking the driver and killing two juvenile pedestrians in Ndola yesterday.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident, which occurred on October 13, 2024, at 11:00 hours, near Suse village along Chiwala Road in Masaiti District.

The taxi driver, Vincent Mwaba, 28, reported that two male passengers, whom he could identify, booked his services at Jacaranda Mall and asked to be taken to the Chiwala area.

After passing through Bwana Mukubwa and the Zambia Army checkpoint, the passengers instructed Mwaba to turn onto a gravel road. There, they attacked him with a metal bar and stole his Toyota IST (gray, registration number ABP 3847).

As the hijackers sped away, they struck and killed two female juveniles: Sarah Musonda 9 and Elizabeth Chama 8, both from Muarab Village in the Chiwala area. The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Mr. Mweemba stated that the crime scenes were visited and the incidents confirmed. The matter has been reported to Ndola Central Police, and a manhunt for the suspects is underway.
