Minister of Labour and Social security, Brenda Tambatamba has implored youths to take keen interest in current affairs and be productivity inorder to seize development opportunities in the country.
Ms Tambatamba challenged the youths to take keen interest in what is happening around the country for them to reposition themselves to take part in the economic and developmental activities.
She said this during an interactive meeting with the youths in Kasempa district of the north-western province meant to orient and provide capacity building in entrepreneurship, productivity and financial skills inoder to avoid misapplication and misappropriation of funds.
The meeting was organised in order to orient them on how to conduct business effectively and efficiently and become responsible citizens
“You will miss out on the monies that are coming into the country let me emphasize this you will miss the money,” Ms Tambatamba added.
She said that the country was witnessing an unprecedented amount of foreign investment which youths would miss out on if they do not develop interest in current affairs.
“Investors from Qatar and other countries were here this past week, they came and the said were are looking for everything in tourism, we are looking for things energy and mining so much things that your friends never heard before,” Ms Tambatamba added.
The Minister encourged the youths to follow the President Hakainde Hichilema’s policy directive on entrepreneurship as he has been unlocking business with other countries.
As such, she disclosed that the country was depending on the youths to make an economic difference in the next 10 to 20 years through productive activities.
Ms Tambatamba further disclosed that without awareness the youths will not be able to take advantage of the various opportunities available.
She urged the youths to adequately prepare themselves and innovative enougn so that they do not miss out on the various opportunities being presented by the Government in varous sectors of the economy.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament mentioned that Government has partnered with Fin Gin, an NGO providing financial literacy to the youths in varous Constituencies including Kasempa Constituency.
She explained that that in her Constituency to over two hundred (200) youths in Kasempa district some of whom have started receiving entrepreneurial knowledge as they wait to receive Constituency Development Fund CDF and other Grant readily available in the area.
Earlier on, the Minister together with her entrouge paid a courtesy call on his Royal Highness, Senior Chief Kasempa of Kasempa District to explain her visitation in the district which is focusing of monitoring of various projects in her Constituency.
