The United Party for National Development-UPND-has called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ-to ensure that political players in the country abide by the Electoral Processes Act.
UPND Elections Chairperson, Garry Nkombo told the Press that the trend where PF was flashing huge sums of money to unsuspecting citizens was against the guidelines of the EPA.
Mr Nkombo noted that the new money culture and trend by the PF was an exhibition of how the PF would run their campaigns during the forthcoming general elections.
“We have seen our competitors, the PF using cash money to conduct their campaigns. It is not exceptional that the PF has given us an exhibition to what we expect in the next few months. Therefore, the ECZ must be alert and ensure that all the political players that they superintend upon abide by the Electoral Processes Act,” he said.
He said the ECZ were mandated to execute their constitutional mandate in line with the stipulations of the EPA.
Mr Nkombo said ECZ must stop child play and perform their functions in accordance to the EPA.
He said they must raise the flag to stop the PF from flashing funds to lure citizens.
Mr Nkombo has challenged Zambians to get the free money as well as to ask their neighbors and children to ask for more, adding that the funds being distributed belonged to them.
