A-61-year-old man, Swedish National has been robbed of an iPhone 13 Promax valued at K26,000, K35,500, 900 Swedish krons (money) and two bank cards by three unknown women in Ndola.
Copperbelt Police Acting Commanding Officer Sharon Zulu said that Svensson Karl Magnus, a Swedish national of Chelstone Lusaka came from Lusaka on June 28, 2022 for Trade Fair exhibition.
Ms Zulu said the victim has been lodging at a named Hotel in Ndola since the time he came, because he was still looking for some business opportunities within the Copperbelt.
She said on July 15, 2022 at around 18:00 hours he met three women drinking beer in the beer garden who were lodged at the same hotel.
Ms Zulu said the victim was invited to join them and was offered Castle larger and the women requested for his cellphone so that they can play music.
“At around 21:00 hours, all of them went to the victim’s room where they continued to drink. At around 22:00 hours, he fell into a deep sleep. The following day around 10:00 hours, he was awakened by one of his workers Mala Yamba who went to check on him at the hotel after her phone was failing to go through,” she said.
She said that when he discovered that the money he had, cellphone and Bank cards were missing.
Ms Zulu said his room was locked from outside and the women went away with the keys.
“The hotel management used the spare key to open the door. The matter was reported to the police.
Police visited the crime scene and viewed the footage showing one suspect at the reception the time she came to book a room. The receptionist confirmed that the women checked out at around 05:00 hours.
They have gone away with the keys to the room which they booked. The names written in the ledgers book for the suspect are Sarah Wanjiru John of Mombasa Kenya” she said.
She said the victim contacted the Stanbic Bank customer service and confirmed that money amounting to K30,000 was withdrawn at around 06:30 hours at Stanbic Bank, Kafubu Mall branch.
And in another development in Kitwe 10 suspects have been arrested in connection the stolen 201 mattresses near the Rail Crossing opposite St Anthony Compound in Kitwe, after the trailers hook plugged off from the truck and flipped side wards.
This attracted the unruly residents from these nearby Townships and looted the mattress.
Ms Zulu said Clement Katungu of Kabushi Township in Ndola reported that some residents of St Anthony and Kandabwe Townshis stole 201 mattresses in different sizes all valued at K184,153 Property of U-Rest Foam Company of Ndola.
Police officers who were on patrol recovered a few mattresses, however reinforcement was called and about 70 more were recovered.
