Counterfeit fertilizer seized in Chingola, 10 suspect nabbed

Police in Chingola have arrested 10 people among them two women for allegedly dealing in counterfeit fertilizer.

The 10 were found ready handed packing the same suspected counterfeit fertilizer in bags at a named Lodge in Chingola.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the development that on October 1, 2023 around 23:00, police received information that some people were dealing in counterfeit fertilizer at a certain named place within the District.

Mr Mweemba said police made a follow-up on the matter and upon arrival at the  scene,  which  police came to know as ” Busy Bee” Lodge  situated in the central area of Chingola town.

He said some people who were found ready handed packing the so called counterfeit fertilizer in some empty sacks scampered in the different directions.

Mr Mweemba said the police  gave a chase and in the process  ten  people out of which  eight were men and  two  women  were apprehended .

However, approximately 60 bags and a big heap of the suspected counterfeit or fake fertilizer Products were recovered from the above named lodge and all the suspects were detained in Police custody.

This occurred on the  1st  of October, 2023  around 23: 00 hours in Chingola District respectively.
