A-42-year-old man has been arrested and charged with threatening violence after allegedly pulling a gun on a woman in Mtendere East.
According to Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, Martin Liswani, a resident of Mtendere, was apprehended by community members after he threatened to shoot Elizabeth Mufolo, 35, with a pistol.
The incident occurred yesterday at around 13:00 hours when Mufolo intervened in a fight between children.
Liswani, who was wearing a G Force Security uniform, allegedly emerged from a nearby yard and threatened Mufolo without provocation.
Police officers rushed to the scene and recovered a Luger pistol with three rounds of ammunition from the suspect. Liswani is currently detained in police custody and will appear in court soon.
The Zambia Police Service has commended the community members for their quick response in apprehending the suspect and cooperating with the police. The service remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and reiterates its zero-tolerance policy toward acts of violence and threats to public safety.
