Fire has swept through a private boarding house which houses some student nurses and midwifery at Nchanga school of Nursing in Chingola.
The boarding house which had six bed spaces and only two were occupied.
And two students from the Girls quarters are admitted to Nchanga North General hospital as they were choked by the smoke they inhaled.
By press time when the news crew visited at the Hospital, the condition of the two students was stable though they were still having difficulties in breathing.
And Benard Chipoka a student Nurse at Nchanga School of nursing whose properties has been burnt to ashes told The Independent Observer in the company of the District Disaster Management and Mitigation Unity and UPND District Chairperson Scrivener Bwalya that the fire started when he was working night shift at his working place.
Mr Chipoka said during the night after school he works to raise tuition fees as he pays for his tuition and meet his own basic needs.
He said he has lost all his properties, starting from books, laptop, clothing and the money amounting to K7000 he raised for tuition fee and K2500 he was keeping for the students as he is a class representative.
Mr Chipoka said other small things have also been burnt, and the things that were left by some of his roommate who have gone for internship out of town cannot be quantified but they have all been burnt.
And Chingola DMMU Satellite Chairperson Jeff Musonda visited the scene to ascertain the extent of the damage to see how they can come in was saddened by scenario.
Mr Musonda said that the DMMU will see on how they can come in and help the students affected so that the keep up with the studies without worrying about the loss.
He said this incident should be investigated as the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
And Mr Bwalya said that it is sad as the students have lost properties and will likely be disturbed but he was grateful that no life was been lost
