Strategic Leadership Focuses on Man ~

By Rev.Clifford Chisha

Genesis 14:14

14 “And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, *he armed his trained servants*, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.”

#When Abraham heard that his relative had been taken captive,he did not give weapons to untrained men.

He armed his three hundred and eighteen (318) trained servants.

#Abraham was a good leader. He prepared well in advance.

He trained his servants at a time when there was no war.

√A good leader trains people when there is no crisis to prepare for times of crisis.

#A good leader trains or facilitates training for his or her team.

#The people Abraham armed or gave weapons of warfare were trained men.

It is dangerous to give weapons to untrained people.

#One of the attributes of good leadership is the ability to spy the future and predict the training needs before the future comes.

Abraham did just that.

#Abraham focused on man.He trained men and provided weapons for them.

√Many organisations and churches have had serious challenges emanating from focusing so much on structures and not on man.

They respect and place their emphasis on structures and not man.

You can have a great structure, but without a great man (trained man),there cannot be great results (or success).

#Human resource is the most important resource.

This is why strategic leadership focuses so much on man who controls all the other resources of an organisation, nation or church.

As you invest in machinery and other things,do not forget to invest in man.

#In the past centuries, leadership was centered on structures. In the 21st century, leadership is centred on man.

√Change your focus.

√The structures are made by man for man and not man for the structures.

#Biblical leadership focuses on man and is centred on the living God.

#Jesus chose twelve disciples and took time to equip them.

He armed them with authority after training them.

√God trained Moses before giving him the greatest assignment of his life-to deliver the children of Israel.

*Why do we train people?*

We train:

-To develop knowledge

-To develop skills

-To develop and/or modify attitudes.

#Training is therefore very important and it works well when people are trained before change takes place or war breaks out.

√Invest in people,invest in training.

Prepare for growth.

Genesis 14:16 “And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.”

√Abraham and his trained servants emerged victorious.

√With trained men, victory (success) is the most likely outcome of any engagement or project.
