Stanbic Bank has donated assorted items worth K60,000 to Musenga Health Post maternity wing as Corporate Social responsibility.
Speaking during the handover of the items Chingola Member of Parliament Chipoka Mulenga expressed gratitude for the donation toward the equipping of the maternity wing.
Mr Mulenga who is also Commerce Trade and Industry Minister stated that Government through Constituency Development Funds (CDF) has built a maternity wing so that the mothers won’t be traveling long distances to access delivery services.
The Minister noted that for the past years mothers were traveling long distances to access medical care, it is now the thing of the past.
“This health post was only running for 4 to 5 hours now it will be operating for 24 hours whenever people are sick they will be attended to at any given time, and this is a big thing for people in Munsenga and surrounding areas,” he said.
Mr Mulenga said when this facility was belt it lacked resources and last year the MP robbed to Stanbic bank and have proved to be very good citizen they responded to the call of the president of equipping of the facility.
He called on other stakeholders to emulate Stanbic bank as the two cabinets, BP machines, bloody sugar testing, thermometers and Television set will go a long way.
And Chingola District Health Director Davis Mwewa said the donation is a big milestone for Chingola Distract office as women in Musenga faced a number of challenges during delivery.
Dr Mwewa said the Ministry of health has assignment midwives and more nurses to work at the facility to make sure that when the facility is officially opened everyone will be there to welcome patients and treat them.
He expressed gratitude to Stanic bank and assured everyone that the donation will be guarded jealously
“The old structure small to cater for over 2000 women in need over maternal health care services now at the moment the facility is able to cover even emergencies,” he said.
Chingola District Commissioner Raphel Chimupi appreciated the donation given and urged the community not to vandalize the facility
