Stakeholders Sensitized Ahead of Continuous Voter Registration

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) held a Stakeholders Sensitization Meeting today in preparation for the Continuous Voter Registration exercise set to commence tomorrow at Zikhalo Jere Library in Chingola.

During the meeting, ECZ Chairperson Mrs. Mwangala Zaloumis, represented by Corporate Affairs Manager Ms. Patricia Luhanga, stressed the significance of voter registration.

She highlighted the essential role of voting as a democratic right and urged residents to actively participate in the electoral process to ensure their voices are heard.

Ms. Luhanga assured attendees of the Commission’s dedication to a transparent and inclusive registration process, emphasizing that every eligible citizen would have the opportunity to register without discrimination.

Chingola District Electoral Officer Mrs. Namukolo Kalufyanya also addressed the stakeholders, encouraging them to spread the word about the registration process to maximize community participation. She called on eligible residents of Chingola to seize this chance to engage in the democratic process by registering as voters.

The meeting saw the presence of notable figures, including Chingola District Mayor Mr. Johnson Kangombe, District Commissioner Mr. Raphael Chimupi, and representatives from the clergy, the Zambia Police, the Zambia Correctional Service, the National Registration Office, as well as invited guests and the media.

Comprehensive presentations during the meeting outlined the procedures and services to be provided during the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

In her closing remarks, Ms. Kalufyanya urged the Church, Ward Development Committees (WDCs), and the media to take a proactive role in disseminating information about the registration process.

The Continuous Voter Registration exercise aims to ensure that all eligible citizens are registered and ready to participate in upcoming elections, reinforcing the democratic foundation of Zambia.
