Solwezi Municipal Council yesterday presented the proposed 2022 Municipal budget to various stakeholders in the district. At the same time, the Council received submissions on what items can be added and/or adjusted in the budget.

Among many other submissions made, is the construction of a Community Centre in Tumvwanganai ward, Construction of a mini Hospital in Kyawama and Construction of a modern Hotel.

From the inception of the meeting, the Town Clerk Eng Bornwell Luanga who addressed the Stakeholders expressed gratitude for their attendance noting that it is a requirement for Council budgets to be subjected to stakeholder consultation and scrutiny in the process of preparing the document.

Eng Luanga also encouraged Stakeholders present to provide input on what could be incorporated in the 2022 Council Budget before the document is presented to the Council Committee that looks at budgets known as the Finance, Human Resource and General Purposes Committee next week.

The Stakeholders who comprised the traditional leadership, Civil Society Organisations, civic leaders and other officials from both the public and private sector were granted an opportunity to make proposals on what projects they hoped the Council could undertake in the year 2022; submissions which were received.

Eng Luanga assured the gathering that the Budget is subjected to a number of stages before implementation such as being presented to the Council for approval, National Hearing and eventually the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for final approval or adjustment.

The proposed Council budget will be presented to the Finance, Human Resource and General Purposes Committee on Wednesday, 22nd December, 2021 for consideration
