St Marcelline Skills partners with Kalulushi Council

By ALICE NACHILEMBE in Kalulushi
Kalulushi Municipal Council (KMC) and St Marcelline Skills Training Centre have signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly run Dongwe Skills Youth Vocational Centre.

KMC Public Relations Manager Dorothy Sampa said the Vocational Skills Centre would provide craft courses to the youths and women in Kalulushi.

Ms Sampa said instead of the youths roaming around in the streets drinking they should acquire skills to uplift themselves.

She said the youths should utilize the centre to keep themselves busy and refrain from illicit activities.

And Dongwe Ward Councillor Paul Chivunda said the signing of the MoU would empower Youths and women with life surviving skills such as carpentry, brick laying, tailoring, cookery and computer lessons.

Mr Chivunda said the council intends to put up an illiteracy class which would help those who dropped out of school to acquire certificates.

“This is a plus to Kalulushi Municipal Council and people in the district,” he said.
