Medical for Quality Healthcare in Zambia (MQHZ) says it is concerned with the increase of the COVID-19 cases across the world and in Africa, particularly.
MQHZ Director General Quince Mwabu said the biggest worry is that some of the affected countries have direct links with Zambia, clearly exposing our country to this vicious virus.
Dr Mwaba said MQHZ has implored the Ministry of Health to put in place stringent measures which will completely insulate Zambians from getting in touch with people from outside with the Corona virus.
He said strict and reliable screening measures at all Airports and in all boarder areas of Zambia is needed.
“With this Corona virus threat,MQHZ is urging government through the Ministry of Health to seriously consider recruiting more paramedics, nurses and Doctors to mitigate the current acute shortages of health workers in Zambia. More health workers in the country will be better placed to prevent the spread of the virus, and to handle the situation in the event of recording any cases in the nation,” he said.
He said the Ministry of Health should seriously educate the general public on the correct preventive measures against the Corona virus and on the symptoms of the virus.
Dr Mwaba said the Country must avoid contracting this virus as the economic and social consequences could be fatal for Zambia.
He said the people of Zambia as well as Health workers are advised to provide honesty and accurate information about COVID -19 to avoid panic and anxiety.
