Sport deters youths’ involvement in vices-Nkhuwa

...President Lungu is leading in ‘the keep Zambia health campaign

By JOHN SAKALA
Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa says sport keeps youths active and deters them from involvement in illicit activities.

Speaking when he donated a set of brand new football jerseys to Divine Foundation Football Club under PKK, Mr Nkhuwa said keeping young people active is one sure way of preventing them from vices such as smoking, beer drinking and sexual immorality among others.

He said an active mind is a productive one which is free of ailments.

Mr Nkhuwa who is also Energy Minister said President Edagr Lungu is taking the lead in keeping the nation health, thereby reducing non communicable diseases.

“Keep those young people active, because sports is major employer in the world. At the moment football is highest paying job far better than any job when talent matures. But for them to reach at that level, we need to nurture the talent well right from early days of their lives.

“This donation may appear small but it is double fold; one, it will keep youths active thereby prevent them from involvement in vices and two, the donation is an empowerment to young talent that has bigger dreams in sport,” he said.

He later told the team to collect footballs at a nearest period from Icon hotel.

And in receiving the jerseys, Divine Foundation coach Norah Kasuba said the amateur team is doing wonders in Chingola.

Kasuba said the donation of the kit is motivation to the team.
