The leader of jerabos gang Kabaso Mulenga popularly known as Spax has appeared before the Chingola Magistrate Court for assault.
Particulars of the offence before Chingola Resident Magistrate Peggy Banda were that Spax on May 19 this year unlawfully assaulted Emmanuel Mwiinga 22, of SNDP, thereby occassioning him to bodily harm.
Spax 28, of Chinfola’s 50 Kitwe Road who is also the Director for Spax Mining denied the charge.
The matter is coming up on June 13, 2018 for commencement of trial.
Chingola has three jerabos groupings (illegal miners) where these rival groups knifed each other.
The three groups are All-Stars, West Kopala and Russian Soldiers.
The two groups, All-Stars and West Kopala are headed by Mohammed Kapandula also known as Tablet and the Russian Soldiers are headed by Spax.
“Apparently, Chiwempala area has been divided on two areas; Chiwempala area up to Lumumba Road has been given to Russian Soldiers and that is where high-grade copper deposits are. And the Maiteneke area up to Chiwempala Police is for Tablet and the group and those have low-grade copper.
“The fight started after Tablet’s gangs invaded the Russian Soldiers’ ‘territory’ and got some copper from there but the other gang leader, Baba Spax, confiscated this copper and sold it,” outside sources said.
Then a fight ensued which leader to the injuring of Mwiinga of West Kopala.
