SP blames cabinet chaos for mining sector turmoil on the Copperbelt

By Staff Writer
Socialist Party Copperbelt Spokesperson, Reagan Kashinga, has pointed out that the turmoil in the mining sector is a direct reflection of disarray in cabinet meetings, which he claims provide no value.

Mr Kashinga alleges that KCM has become a political playground for cadres who secure contracts and generous payments for themselves.

He insists that the rhetoric surrounding KCM suggests that the community house has turned into a circus.

“The people on the Copperbelt are astute and can identify the wolves among us. We demand stability in the mining sector, as the Minister of Mines has proven to be ineffective,” said Mr. Kashinga.

He also expressed concerns about the state of Mopani and questioned who is benefiting from its current state.

“We need to see tangible results now. Miners and contractors have been reduced to beggars due to the government’s lack of direction in mining. We encourage our colleagues in the cabinet who have mining experience to advise the president on how to address this mining circus,” he added.

Mr. Kashinga has called on the mining community and stakeholders to take a firm stance.

He emphasized that the union should not be passive due to audits but should take necessary action.

He also urged the ruling party to address economic hardships rather than these evident errors.
