Song’s shooting case derailed

By Nchimunya Miyoba
The case in which a Chinese national allegedly shot and wounded a-16-year-old boy failed to take off in the Chambishi Magistrate Court today because the accused refused to plea in absence of his lawyer.

Appearing before Magistrate Steven Mabona was Cheng Yuan Song of Baolo Mines in Chambishi

Particulars of the offense are that on June 28 this year Cheng did cause grievous harm on the boy contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Cheng however refused to answer when the Magistrate asked if he had understood the charge because his Lawyer was not in court.

Magistrate Mr Mabona said a plea of not guilty was going to be recorded because he had refused to speak in the absence of his Lawyer.

Magistrate Mr Mabona has since adjourned the matter to July 11, 2018 for continuation of trial.
