Solwezi District Electoral Officer Bornwell Luanga has toured the voter registration centers to assess and determine the preparedness.
Eng Luanga who is Solwezi Town Clerk said that some of the facilities that have been put in place were pleasing.
He undertook a familiarization tour of Voter Registration Centres in Kapijimpanga ward ahead of the Voter Registration exercise slated for October 2020 and the General Elections next year.
He said that other amenities such as ramps would be installed for the persons with disabilities to easily access the centres.
Eng Luanga urged Head teachers to help in sensitizing community members to exercise their right to vote by turning up in large numbers to register as voters in October 2020.
He was accompanied by Director of Engineering Services Kennedy Bwalya and the Solwezi District Returning Officer David Saitumbo visited schools that will be used as Voter Registration Centres in the ward.
The tour was aimed at assessing and determining if the said centres have all the necessary facilities needed for successful voter registration and general elections.
Some Centres had facilities such as ramps for use by persons with disabilities, adequate infrastructure and good internet connectivity.
