Solwezi Council to open road to Mushitala market

Solwezi Municipal Council is in the process of opening up the road and clearing of the area around Mushitala markets for easy access by members of the public.

Splwezi Mayor Nicholas Mukumbi and council management inspected projects and the state of Mitec and Mushitala markets.

The inspection at Mitec market was mainly to check on the progress of the ablution block which is currently not in use.

Mr Mukumbi has instructed for the steel columns at the Mitec market shelter to be worked on as a matter of urgency as there is need for reinforcing.

He also said that the damaged and loose iron sheets should also be replaced and fixed respectively.

The Mayor has assured the marketeers that he would meet the Minister of Local Government Charles Banda to request for the project at the Mitec market to be handed over to the Council so that it can be completed.

Currently the project is under the Department of Housing and Infrastructure Development (DHID) under the Ministry of Local Government

The Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga and the rest of the entourage then proceeded to inspect Mushitala market where the Council is in the process of opening up the road and clearing of the area around the market.

Others in the entourage were Director Housing and Social Services Boyd Mboyi, Acting Director Engineering Nyambi Mbumwae among other Council Officers visited Mitec and Mushitala markets to inspect their state.
