Solwezi Council to kill all unregistered dogs

Solwezi Municipal Council will effect from October 1, 2020 kill all unregistered dogs.

Solwezi Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga said any dog which is not registered is considered as a public nuisance.

“I wish to notify all residents of Solwezi that the Local Authority will undertake an elimination exercise of all unregistered and stray dogs in the district from October 1-30, 2020.

“The Local Authority is mandated to register and control the population of dogs in the district according to provisions of the CONTROL OF DOGS ACT CAP 247 of the Laws of Zambia. Any dog found without a Solwezi Municipal Council Tag and Collar will be eliminated. Further, Households with more than two dogs risk the excess being eliminated as they are deemed a public nuisance,” he said.

Mr Luanga advised all dog all to ensure that their dogs are vaccinated against rabies at the Veterinary Department and registered with Solwezi Municipal Council to avoid any inconveniences associated with non-compliance.
