Solwezi Council scheduled to finish 4 community halls

By Clozzen Bikale in Solwezi
Solwezi Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga says the local authority is scheduled to finish construction works on all the four community halls in four wards.

Mr Luanga said community halls will be handed over by the end of the year 2021.

Speaking with The Independent Observer, Mr Luanga said the delay in finishing the works on the community halls centres was as a result of building the ablutions blocks at the centres.

“As the local authority we are currently constructing the ablution blocks because when we constructed the main centres in 2020, we did not have sufficient funds to do ablution blocks and water reticulation and furniture at all the centres”, he said.

Mr Lunga is hopeful that the construction of the ablution blocks will be done in a period of one month because the contractors are already on site.

He said that the local authority has done the procurement of installation of boreholes.

“We are waiting for Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) to approve and validate the variation of their procurement we sent to Lusaka”, he said.

Eng Luanga is optimistic that the works will be completed by December and be handed over to the public.
