Solwezi Municipal Council has approved the proposed 2022 budget of K121,108, 534.00 for the civic year 2022.
The 2022 budget has decreased by 1% in comparison to the 2021 budget which was at K 121,843,410.00.
The budget will focus on implementing economic and developmental projects directed at delivering services to the public.
Among the capital projects to be undertaken by the Council this year include: construction of a Fire Brigade, modern Market and Bus Station, Abattoir, installation of Street Lights, upgrading of selected roads to climate resilient Standard among others.
This came to light during the Special Council meeting held in the Council Chambers last week.
In his address to the August House, Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa said that the approved budget will enable the implementation of various projects that will improve the living standards of Solwezi residents.
Mr Kalepa has tasked Council management to commence implementation of the approved projects as soon as possible so that members of the public can benefit from the projects.
