Solwezi Council intensifies corona-virus screening

Solwezi Municipal Council has partnered with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to intensify the screening of the Coronavirus from people flying into the district.

Speaking during inspection of the newly opened screening Centre at Solwezi Airport, Solwezi District Commissioner Rosemary Kamalonga expressed gratitude in seeing that a screening centre had been opened in Solwezi in order to prevent and control the spread of the virus.

She said that economic activities in the district have led to an influx of people from all over the world hence the need for them to be screened.

Ms Kamalonga emphasized on the need to intensify screening by opening various check points in the district.
The DC appealed to the travellers to be cooperative as they will be requested to be screened upon entry into Solwezi.

Meanwhile, Solwezi Municipal Council Public Health Director Stanley Mbewe said that the Local Authority will continue to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Health to prevent and control recording of any cases of the Corona virus in Solwezi.

Mr Mbewe said that the council has attached two of its employees to assist in screening people at Solwezi Airport.

He urged the general public to follow guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and Zambia Public Health Institute on the preventive measures against spreading and contracting the virus.
