Solwezi Council increases Local generated fund

Solwezi Municipal Council has this year increased the Locally Generated funds, equalization fund from K2, 500.000 to nine 9Million.

Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa has disclosed this during a media briefing in solwezi.

Mr Kalepa said that the increment of the equalization fund will have more local developmental projects in communities.

He said that the funds will be used to improve the road network in Solwezi, building of education and health infrastructures and other social economic developmental projects.

The Mayor also said that all the twelve wards will get an equal share of the funding.

And Solwezi Municipal Council will construct 7 kilometers standard roads in Solwezi this year under debt swap.

Mr Kalepa said the Local Authority has agreed with First Quantum Mine (FQM) to do a stone based standard road.

He said the 7 kilometers will include Kikombe via urban through to prisons, ShopRite, Zambeef connecting Kikombe road, Tacisia joining Kikombe road.

Other roads include the medical center road through to ABSA bank joining Independence Avenue.

Mr Kalepa has indicated that the council has been receiving complaints from the people concerning the state of township roads.
