Solwezi Council calls for proposals for street naming

Solwezi Municipal Council will embark on a pilot project of street naming in the area.

The targeted areas are; Mushitala, kandundu, urban and all roads connecting to the T5 (independence avenue road.)

Solwezi Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga said that the proposals being invited are names of Heroes or Heroines, Chiefs, streams, Rivers, Minerals as well as Flora and fauna (plants and animals) in North-Western Province that the streets can be named after.

Mr Luanga said that the names proposed should however be easy to pronounce and not offensive.

He said the Council will also be issuing Street Naming project proposal forms at the Civic centre reception point on the ground floor as from today June 14 to July 2, 2021 between 08: 00 hrs to 17:00 hrs.

The Council has requested for the interested individuals to collect forms at from the Civic Centre or access a copy on Solwezi Mucipal Council Facebook page and filed in.

Mr Luanga said that upon completion, the exercise will rolled out to other parts of the district.
