Chipolopolo midfielder Collins Sikombe says registering a win against Tanzania in a African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group D opener has motived him and the team going forward.
Zambia on Tuesday night thrashed Tanzania 2-0 Limbe Stadium in Cameroon.
The Lusaka Dynamos midfielder scored a penalty in the 64th minute and assisted Emmanuel Chabula for his fabulous volley on 78 minutes to inspire the Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic coached Zambia to victory.
Sikombe who was voted man-of-the-man said that he was happy to make his CHAN debut with victory and insists their hard work in training is yielding results.
“I am very happy about today’s game (Tuesday) because it is my first time playing in any CHAN tournament. I am very happy and thank God for what he has done for me in today’s game,” he said.
Sikombe said beating the Taifa Stars has given the team motivation ahead of their next game against Guinea on Saturday.
“This game has motivated me, and we really worked hard as a team. We know why we are here; we just need to keep talking to each other and work together.” he said.
Sikombe has so far scored seven goals for the Chipolopolo under Micho in all competitions.
