Siavonga District launches Covid-19 vaccination

Siavonga District has lunched the Covid-19 vaccination program.

Siavonga District Commissioner Ephraim Mwanjabanthu launched the Covid-19 vaccination yesterday at the District Hospital.

Mr Mwanjabanthu led several Head of Government Departments and private firms for the vaccination.

The DC urged stakeholders and the community at large to turn up in large numbers to receive their vaccinations.

He said that the vaccination alone will not prevent transmission of covid-19, but also the continues adherence to the  five golden rules.

And District Health Director Kadija Sumbwe said the vaccine boosts the immunity against Covid19 infection and prevents severe forms of related Covid-19 disease.

‘’ The Atrazeneca vaccine is the one currently available in Zambia, The first consignment of 228,000 doses were received in the country on April,12th 2021 and the national launch was held on 14th April followed by the Provincial launch which was on April, 27th and today we have our district launch,” she said.
