Shepolopolo To Play SA’s Wyk

The Zambia Women National Football Team will this weekend play South Africa’s Janine Van Wyk women’s Football club in a friendly game in Randburg.

This is in preparation for the final round, first leg of the 2020 Olympic qualifier against Cameroon to be played on March 5.

Shepolopolo Coach Bruce Mwape says the South African team will give his players a good test ahead of the away game against Indomitable Lionesses.

Mwape adds that the girls are ready to take on Cameroon as they have intensified training in camp.

He says the decision to set up camp in South Africa is good for the team as it will adopt some football techniques from continental Giants Banyana Banyana.

This is according to a statement issued by First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambia High Commission in South Africa, Naomi Nyawali.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Jackson Miti encouraged the team to produce good results.

Major General Miti expressed confidence that the team will emerge victorious over Cameroon.

He is also impressed with the unity and hard work exhibited by the team during their training session at University of Pretoria Fields.

The first leg will be played on March 5 in Cameroon, before the second leg 5 days later in Zambia.

The winner over the two legs will earn an automatic ticket to Tokyo for the Olympics while the runner up will have to face Chile in a play-off.
