Peter Kanungo has been installed as new Senior Chief Mboroma of the Lala-Swaka people of Luano District at a ceremony held in Mboroma Chiefdom.
Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe graced the ceremony, and saluted the Mboroma Royal Establishment for completing this process without succession disputes.
Mr Mwanakampwe said that Government recognized Chiefs as partners in development, adding that peaceful succession of leadership in the chiefdoms is important to this partnership.
He said Chiefs have been encouraged to attend and deliberate in full council meetings.
Meanwhile, The Ichibwela – Mushi Cultural Association for the Lala and Swaka people thanked Government for administrative and material support that was rendered to the ceremony.
Association Spokesperson James Nshimba emphasized that it is gratifying to learn that Government prioritizes the plight of Chiefs and respects cultural matters. ZANIS
