A security guard identified as Stanford Chama aged 32 was shot dead by unknown people while on duty at INDO Zambia Bank in Kasama District, Northern Province.
Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale said the shooting incident is suspected to have occurred between September 8, 2023 around 22:00 hours and September 9, 2023 around 05:00 hours at INDO Zambia Bank in Kasama.
He said the victim sustained gunshot wounds on the Chest, legs and the back.
Mr Mwale said that brief facts are that on September 9, 2023 around 06:20 hours, Daniel Sinkala also a security guard of a named Security company reported on duty to take over from Mr. Chama who was working the night shift.
He said upon arrival, he discovered that the gate was open and books in the guard room scattered. He later discovered Stanford Chama lying in a pool of blood behind the building located next to the Bank.
“Police were alerted and immediately rushed to the scene where they found the body of the deceased and upon inspection, it was discovered that the body had multiple gunshot wounds. An empty cartilage was found at the scene. The body was deposited in Kasama General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem,” he said.
Investigations were instituted into the matter.
