Sakanya and Mokambo borders to be modernized

A Chinese firm, Zambia Well Investment has declared interest to modernize Sakanya border in Ndola and Mokambo border in Mufulira.

Zambia Well Investment Managing Director, Sun Ya Dong said his company has set aside 30 million US Dollars to erect warehouses, storage facilities, manufacturing and processing factories at Sakanya border.

“Other facilities that will be built at Sakanya border include banking facilities, parking lots and roads the company is ready to commence the works once a piece of land is found, we also want to create  2,500 jobs during and after construction of the facilities,” he said.

Mr Dong said at least 300 hectares of land is needed at Sakanya border and 50 hectares at Mokambo border.

He was speaking yesterday when he called on Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary, Bright Nundwe in Ndola.

And Mr Nundwe said it is government’s desire that all the borders are modernized in order to improve the flow of traffic and enhance revenue collection.

“The provincial administration will quicken the process of land acquisition to enable the company set up the facilities which will not only modernize the borders but also create thousands of jobs,” he said.
