The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is elated by President Hakainde Hichilema’s commitment to peace, security, and stability during his travel to the United States of America (USA) on attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe said they are comforted and at peace with the political will and commitment by the President to contribute to the general well-being of attaining and maintaining greater peace.
Mr Cheembe said SACCORD is elated at the interaction and appeal for greater cooperation between Zambia and peace institutes as elaborated by the President when he gave his remarks on lessons from Zambia to the world.
He said it is true that there cannot be economic development without the fundamentals of peace, security, and stability being in place.
“We support the peaceful tone echoed by the President thus far and we encourage him and his administration to continue this peaceful path by ensuring that there is implementation that is supported by financial and logistical inputs for peace,” he said.
