South African insurance giant, Summit Life Group, says it will soon be in Zambia to explore prospects of spreading its business tentacles due to the country’s conducive environment and a rebounding economy.
Speaking when his company and the Zambia Association in South Africa (ZASA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide Zambians with a wide range of financial services while living in that country, Summit Life Group Chairman Sifiso Ncube said his company has been attracted to Zambia because the country has achieved a lot economically.
Mr. Ncube said he is profoundly honoured and privileged to work with the Zambian community in South Aftica and paid tribute to the people of Zambia for turning their economy around.
He said as a result of a conducive and flourishing business environment in Zambia, Summit Life looked forward to exploring business opportunities.
“We would like to recognise the great achievement of the Zambian economy in achieving second best performing currency in the world. The Kwacha is now stronger than the Russian Ruble and stronger than most of the European currencies too,” Mr. Ncube said.
“Summit life has created jobs for some Zambians living in South Africa and to the recent developments and enhanced attractiveness as an investment destination, Summit Life expressed interest in visiting Zambia to further explore the opportunities next month.”
And Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Ms. Inonge Mwenya said she is delighted at the materialisation of the MoU between ZASA and Summit Life, adding that this will go a long way in addressing some of the challenges faced by the Zambian Diaspora in South Africa when it comes to dealing with matters such as bereavements.
Ms. Mwenya said the High Commission was delighted to have been part of the occasion marking the signing of the MoU
ZASA president Ferdinand Simaanya said his association has had a number of engagements with Summit Life and drafted a tailor made product and service for Zambians living in South Africa.
Mr. Simaanya said he is happy that Summit Life has come on board to provide a service to Zambians which will help to improve their wellbeing by providing a solution to some of the challenges faced even during unfortunate eventualities such as death.
