SA bus accident victim dies bringing total to 12

A member of Royal bus crew, who has been in hospital since September 17, 2018 has died.

Rayford Bulaya sustained head injuries in the accident and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Polokwane Hospital in Limpopo Province.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba said Polokwane hospital authorities informed him that Bulaya had died from his injuries after a month long battle.

Mr Mwamba expressed sadness at the passing of Mr Bulaya who seemed to be making good progress towards recovery.

The bus accident which killed 11 people was travelling from Kitwe to Johannesburg, occurred when it suffered a front tyre burst.

The driver lost control and the bus fell on its side in Mokopane District.

President Edgar Lungu had declared a Day of National Mourning and also sent a Zambia Air Force plane to pick the bodies of the accident victims.

With the death of Bulaya, the number of those killed comes to 12.
