The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) Head of Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga has apologised to the citizens for failing to print driver’s licences for the past six months.
Mr Mubanga was reacting to the Reporters in the RTSA Media WhatsApp group where Journalists claimed that RTSA has not been printing driver’s licences for the past six month.
He said the reason for failure was because the agency was importing material used in printing the driver’s licences.
“We shall resume the printing of Driving Licence cards in the next few month. We, are sourcing for some consumables used to print the cards. We can’t source them locally because this might expose us to the risk of counterfeit cards which could be a risk to road safety too.
“The Agency has made progress to secure the materials. The backlog will be cleared soon. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. It’s not a good practice to be in defence always. We are not printing the cards due to circumstances beyond the Agency’s control. But, we have some few stations with few consumables for printing the cards,” he said.
