The Kitwe City Council has facelifted the Nakadoli market which had turned into a white elephant.
The Council spent over K25, 000 to rehabilitate the new Nakadoli Market ablution block.
Works have been completed and so far 1, 000 marketeers have been accommodated.
Kitwe Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga said the ablution block which was vandalized has been given a facelift to enable traders’ access clean and habitable sanitary facilities.
Eng Luanga said among the rehabilitation works done include fitting of cisterns and taps which were stolen.
He warned that council will not hesitate to enforce the law on those found vandalizing public property and insisted that those tasked with the responsibility to protect and safeguard public property should report perpetrators to the police once found wanting.
Eng Luanga urged members of the public to take ownership of the ablution block by ensuring that anyone found vandalizing is brought to book.
He however reiterated the need to construct more ablution blocks to cater for the huge number of traders who were allocated stands in a bid to get rid of street vending.
