Retired Chingola Municipal Council Senior Resettlement Officer Joseph Chibesa has pleaded not guilty to one count of indecent assault.
Chibesa 59, of 45 Chiwempala Road was arrested on June 28, 2019 by police after a tip off from the members of the public that he was sexually defiling the six year old minor.
Appearing before Chingola Senior Resident Magistrate was Chibesa who was charged with indecent assault but pleaded not guilty.
He was arrested and detained at Chiwempala Police station where police denied him bond for security reasons.
His charge was changed from sexual defilement after he played it smart by admitting that it was true he was using the girl but he wasn’t penetrating.
The Medical Doctor’s report saved him when it confirmed that the hymen of the minor was intact but the vulva was bruised.
However before court he took a different plea of not guilty.
Chibesa was again denied bail for his safety.
The matter was adjourned to July 8, 2019, for commencement of trial.
