Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people has urged leaders of political parties taking part in the August, 12, polls to adhere and respect the peace accord they signed ahead of the polls.
Chief Chitimukuku said there is need for all political players to maintain peace before, during and after the General Election.
“I want to call on the PF UPND leaders to encourage their members to desist from violence during campaigns, I am concerned that even after the peace accord was signed, the message has not been followed by party cadres, political parties must be emphasized on need for them to denounce violence. ” he said.
Chief Chiti Mukulu was speaking when Social Scientist Innocent Kolala paid a courtesy call on him in Kasama.
And Mr Kolala said that when political campaigns are characterized with violence, apathy is likely to be caused.
Mr Kolala is Northern Province to sensitize people against violence ahead of the General Election.
