Zambia Police Service has warned political cadres to desist from being involved in violent behavior or acts of lawlessness at police stations.
Police Spokesperson Rea Hamoonga said all those who will be found wanting will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
Mr Hamoonga said the Zambia Police Service is concerned with the emerging trend of political cadres who have in the recent past committed criminal acts at police infrastructures on the Copperbelt.
“We wish to inform the public that naming of Police Stations or Posts involve a consultative process with the community and local authorities in some instances. Equally, those who may have concerns on the names of certain police formations should follow the laid down procedures unlike taking the law into their own hands,” he said.
He said Police stations are places of security and demand high levels of tranquility and respect from all.
