Regulate Dog bleeding- Animal service

Zambezi Animal Welfare Services Founder Lynne Mendelsohn says the country needs to start licensing dog breeders to control the proliferation of vicious varieties.

Ms Mendelsohn said the country is experiencing an explosion of dog breeding but people have limited understanding of how to care for them leading the pets into depression, frustration and boredom with an end result of vicious attacks.

She said dogs need to be loved, adequately cared for and fed properly to prevent depression, frustration and boredom.

Ms Mendelsohn said this in an interview with ZNBC News in Livingstone.

And the Livingstone City Council has urged the public to be cautious of the dog breeds they intend to keep to prevent violent attacks.

Livingstone City Council Public Relations Manager Melvin Mukela said vicious dogs especially need to be kept in a secure place to ensure that they are not a danger to the public.

Although Zambia has a Dog Act, there are no provisions for regulating breeding of dogs in the country.
